I
was born in Lampertheim, Southwest Germany,
in 1952. Already in early childhood I
demonstrated artistic inclinations and a clear
talent for painting. At the age of 16, I was a
scholar for two years at the American Famous
Artists Schools in Munich. At 19, I graduated with
an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. I would
have continued my studies immediately at the
University, but I served 24 months in the navy
earning the rank of Lieutenant.
After 4 years of formal studies at the Johannes
Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany, I
completed the subjects of Art History, Classical
Archaeology, the History of Printing and of
Hand Painted Book Illustrations and majored
in "Landscape Paintings In The 19th Century In
Germany: The Romanticists Of Heidelberg."
I supplemented my academic education, with
extensive formal training, in oil and drawings in
Art Academies in Mannheim and Heidelberg.
Additionally, I studied at the Technical High
School Mainz, Germany, the subject of
Architectural and Constructional Plans of
Baroque Buildings.
I consider myself an eloquent spokesman for
realism. With my paintings, I am continuing the
tradition of the Old European Masters of the
19th century. I show breathtaking detail,
perspective and depth as I capture a certain
hour of the day and circumstances of light to
let my landscapes, and seascapes celebrate
the harmonious poetry therein.
In 1978, I established my own gallery and studio
in Lampertheim, Germany, and ran it
successfully for 18 years, featuring shows and
exhibitions throughout Europe and the United
States. As founder of the artists' group APRES in
1981, a group of nationally acclaimed artists -
three painters of fine art and two sculptors - I
organized shows and exhibits throughout
Germany as well as educational art-workshops
and seminars.
Ready for a change, I moved to Florida with
my wife Veronika in January 1997, to paint full-
time. My originals are represented in galleries
throughout the United States including several
Florida galleries.
